Available DogsIf you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please read about NEARR's Dogs and the placement process. NEARR specializes in matchmaking. We know our dogs very well through speaking with the previous owner or shelter, doing a careful evaluation, and evaluating the dogs further while they are in foster care. We then get to know our applicants through a thorough questionnaire, interviews, home screenings, and reference checks. We have never accepted applications for a specific dog. Instead, we've always matched applicants up with the appropriate dog based on our knowledge and experience. Coco
Age: 3 years Hi, my name is Coco, and I am a sweet and very loving little girl. My foster mom says I am amazingly gentle, and I'm the easiest foster she's ever had. I am adorable and friendly and I just love people and attention. I love to be petted, to go for walks and rides, to play fetch, and to please my people. And my favorite thing is to swim - I head for the pond the minute we go outside. You might notice that I'm wet in my pictures. My NEARR friends tell me I have excellent people skills and I am pretty well trained. I am very obedient, even come when I'm called outside. In my new foster home I've had two little girls, ages 5 and 7, to play with and I've been very gentle with them. But I should not go to a home with toddlers who won't understand not to touch my paws because they are sore, at least until they are better. I am shy with new dogs, and sometimes I growl at them at first, but I am curious about them and try to follow them to get acquainted. In my new foster home I have a canine foster brother - our favorite game is stealing each other's toys and chasing each other to get them back. We have a cat too. I'd love to play with her, but she won't have anything to do with me. I've had kind of a rough start to my short life - I've already had two litters of puppies, although I am spayed now. I have lick granuloma on three paws, and I have had ear infections in the past. My foster mom took me to a new vet who says that my granulomas were originally caused by food allergies, so now I'm on a special diet and some medications until my paws heal. These NEARR folks say I need an owner committed to controlling my allergies and providing structure, positive dog experiences, and, of course, lots of love. Could you be the one? Cole
Age: 5 years HEY - Who wants to hang with a good looking, well mannered, easy going middle-ager? Cole is a handsome lab/boxer mix weighing in at 60 pounds. He loves playing fetch, going for walks or just snuggling with you. Cole is a little uneasy around other dogs so he needs time to warm up. He lived with 2 smaller dogs in his previous home and shares his foster home with the resident dog but he is more people-focused and wants nothing more than to please you. Cole would do best in a quite home where someone is around more often than not. Tika
Age: 7 years old
Breed: My name is Tika and I am an 7 year old yellow Lab. I need a new family who will love me, keep me company, and take me for walks. I enjoy being around people and I love to show off for treats. I would actually give you my heart for a treat. I guess that is why I have a little bit of a weight problem. I have had some training and I walk well on a leash. I know the commands for sit and lay down. I am sure I could learn other commands and some tricks if you have the time to teach me. All I want to do is please my people (and get some more yummy treats). I was once told I have epilepsy and that I should take medicine for it. My vet recently discovered that the medicine I take is not really at therapeutic levels in my body, and she is thinking that maybe I don't need to take these medicines anymore. I haven't had any seizures in a long time. So now my mom is starting to wean me off my medication to see what happens. If I am still seizure-free, then no medicines for me! I have a lot of love and joy to bring to a very special forever home. Please consider adopting me? Reno - Adoption Pending!
Age: 4.5 years Breed: Labrador Retriever11:52 AM 6/12/2009 Color: Yellow (with a reddish tinge, also known as Fox Red) Sex: Neutered male Size: Large (90 pounds) Exercise: Moderate Children: Teenagers and older Dogs: OK Cats: Good Reason for surrender: Owner unable to keep Hi, my name is Reno! People who meet me think I'm just a big lovable galoot. They also think that I'm just such a handsome boy. I just love to get attention and when I get someone to rub my ears or scratch my butt I wag my tail so hard my foster mom is worried that I'll break something. When I first came into foster care, I hate to admit it, but I was a bit of a project. I tended to bark and if there was food on the counter, it was gone. But my foster family has been working with me and I'm much better these days. While my foster family still has to make sure to put the food up high, I'm learning to be a quiet boy. I love to go for walks and be with my people. My foster family leave my crate door open and I like to go there to snooze. I need a home with people who have prior dog experience and who would be willing to continue my training so I don't go back to my old bad habits. Won't you take me home? Remember that new dogs are announced to all approved adopters, and that our application process can take several weeks. If you want to be ready to adopt the perfect dog as soon as they appear in our program, it's a good idea to apply now. Voicemail: (617)-824-4278 nearr@nearr.com |
