I can’t believe it’s 8 months all ready that we’ve had Macfarland! He’s turned out to be a fantastic dog - makes us laugh every day!! He’s such a happy dog it’s infectious! We’re looking forward to lots of fun times this summer swimming, hiking, boating etc. He’s gotten a lot more confident and you can see it in his eyes that he knows that this is his new home. Murray has been having a blast playing with Mac , he’s such a silly dog! Thanks again for all you two have done to bring him to where he is. I’ve enclosed some recent photos.

Have a very Happy Easter!

Clifford (4 Month Update)

By: colleen @ 10:14 am

clifford
Hello, this is Clifford with my 4 month update. I’m having a great time with my new family. They have learned quite nicely about my likes such as my walks, rawhide bones, belly rubs, brushing and of course….food!! They have even learned to put up with my silly little habits such as stealing gloves and table scraps (did I mention that I like food??). They continue to learn about my dislikes such as the snow plow driver (I’ve seen quite enough of him this winter) and baths. My owners found a place that is a self service dog wash. They give it a big thumbs up, and I give it two paws down. I just sit there with an indignant look as they try to move my slender 114 pound frame around in the tub. I’m happy to report that I graduated from obedience school. I graduated at the top of my class (not bad for a 4 year old, huh?). I am so looking forward to spring, I keep on losing my frisbee in the snow!!clifford2

Lucy (Update)

By: colleen @ 10:11 am

Lucy’s first obedience class went well it was mainly evaluating her and her behavior to identify her issues and what she and I need to work on to gain each others trust. Her visit to the vet went well. Her new food is working well she’s put on some weight and is close to where her weight should be. The vet loved her and said she is a sweetie. Our second obedience class we did physical training and once again Lucy did outstanding our teacher was quite impressed and said Lucy just wants a job. She loves training and her new job is carrying my mail back to the house. I love her so much I can’t wait to get home from work and there she is waiting for me. She is the sweetest happiest girl wagging her tail when I come in. She knows after I get home that we will go out into the yard to play Chuck It - by the way that was the best toy you told me to get because she loves it. What a way to complete my day no matter what kind of day I had it will end happy knowing Lucy will be there waiting for me. Thanks again for choosing me to be her mom.

Fenway ~f/k/a Hartley~ (Second Week Update)

By: colleen @ 11:39 pm

fenway2 fenway3

We decided to get Fenway a crate. You never know when your dog will need to know how to be crate trained. It’s a very large wire crate (I had to rearrange my living room to accommodate it). I thought it would be a challenge to get him in it, but it was more difficult keeping him out of it while I set it up. He actually really likes it and he goes in willingly to play with his toys. Since he is in it, Camden wants to be in it, so sometimes they are in it together. Fenway goes to the toy box, picks a toy, goes into the crate, and plays with it. Half the toys in the apartment are now in the crate.

Fenway and Camden are like two peas in a pod now. They play for about 20 minutes, three times per day. They are both about even in weight and Camden has experience on his side. I just need to make sure to tire them out before we have company. They like to stand up like a couple of grizzly bears with their mouths gaping open and teeth showing. Then they get tired and pant for awhile and might chew on eachother lying down. They are really cute.

Tomorrow is Fenway’s first day at doggie daycare. I am going to start out three times per week, half days. And I’ll send Camden once per week for a half day. Baxter would rather not have anything to do with it. This will be good for them expecially while I am working.

Jesse ~f/k/a Justy~ (St. Patrick’s Day Update)

By: colleen @ 11:35 pm

jesse
Just want to send you a pic of our sweet NEARR boy, Jesse.

If he looks saddish in the picture, it’s just because B. was eating bacon and eggs right in front of him and Jesse wasn’t getting any!

Thanks a million times for bringing him into our lives and Happy St. Patty’s Day!

Sampson (One Year Update)

By: colleen @ 11:30 pm

Sam is doing great. He is a very happy dog who forgets that he is over 100 pounds!! We go to a conservation reservation every day and on the weekends often twice a day so he can run and socialize with other dogs. Sam has gone through extensive training with a local trainer. Sam has become more and more “my” dog over the last year. He is very smart yet can be very stubborn. Sam has regular check ups at the vet and they state that he is quite healthy.

Sam does like other dogs and socializes well. Sam obeys about 70% of the time, especially if he believes that there is a “reward” in it for him. The funny thing is that I believe that he knows when he is being disobedient and doesn’t care. Sam knows that I love him and will put up with his bad behavior. He has 3 toys that I have given him that he loves. I have named them and if I tell him to “find” one of them by name he brings me the correct toy. He loves to play and share these toys with me or my sons. I will try to get a picture of Sampson sent to you. Please let Sampson’s previous owner know that he is doing better than ever - happy, healthy and much loved.

Shadow’s First Update! (One Week)

By: colleen @ 11:26 pm

Shadow is doing wonderfully. He has adjusted well and enjoys playing and spending time with all his doggy siblings. He greets each day with a smile on his face and “grabs life in his paws”. He is scheduled for a vet appointment on March 24th for his heartworm check and to be updated on any vaccinations he might need. He seems to have recovered well from his long ordeal and loves romping through the snow now that his leg has healed. He is a great addition to our family. We are very grateful that we have been given the opportunity to be Shadow’s “Forever Family”. Thank you to all of his friends and supporters!

Indy (3 Week Update)

By: colleen @ 10:32 am

We’ve had Indy for about 3 weeks now and it feels like she’s always been here. She has adjusted very well and loves playing fetch with us. We are working on her leash walking behavior and nervous tendencies around other dogs. Her weight is down a few more pounds (96lbs) during her most recent vet visit and we have about 10 more to go, but her itchy and dandruff are minimal. She has made a great addition!
