Lia - 4 Month Update (formerly known as Tasha)

By: site admin @ 8:39 am

As you can see from the photo Lia is quite relaxed in her new home. She adores her big brother Seamus. They play together, curl up together, nuzzle each other affectionately.

Lia continues to lose weight, she finally has a waist! She goes on lot of walks in the local woods and seashore. She especially enjoys meeting new dogs and people on these walks.

We are taking an obedience class. Lia does great at home but once she is in class she is more interested in making friends with the other dogs. She has a great recall, knows sit and down. Her only issue is pulling on the leash because she wants to say hi to everybody. She is a real sweetheart and we are enjoying her tremendously.

Lia - 2 Month Update (formerly known as Tasha)

By: site admin @ 8:37 am

Lia is doing very well. She has charmed the entire neighborhood with her happy greetings and playful ways. We took her to the beach over Christmas. I think it must have been her first visit to the ocean because she wasn’t quite sure about the waves. She got over her nervousness and had a blast running around with Seamus and wading in the water. I have attached a couple of photos of Lia looking cautious about waves chasing her. She is such a character.

She has lost 8 pounds so far and looks terrific. I think she feels pretty good too. Lia has earned herself a few nicknames. Curly Girly is one, for the thick golden curls on her chest and back, Flopsy Mopsy is another. She runs like a puppy and her ears flop around wildly, sometimes touching over the top of her head. She has been a great addition to the family, making all of us very happy.

We gave Lia her own page on our website, it is pretty basic so far but we did put a link on it to a video of her playing with Seamus. I will be putting up a photo gallery for her soon.

Angie and Woodford - 6 Year Update

By: site admin @ 1:58 pm

Angie celebrated her 12th Birthday 2 weeks ago, and we celebrated with her in the Florida Gulf. They spent a week on the beach, with Angie swimming to her heart’s content, and Woodford sniffing around and getting lots of attention from passersby. Their arthritic limping gets them extra attention! It was so much fun to have them with us on vacation. They enjoyed the road travel too. Woodford already turned 12 last August. They are amazing dogs. Despite their creakiness and all the snow, they love to get outside for walks and sniffing around. We are so blessed with them!!

Sophie - 2 Month Update

By: site admin @ 4:28 pm

Sophie is doing really well. We will finish our dog obedience classes tonight. She has been such a star and joy in the class. She is also easing up on chewing her feet and I keep daily maintenance of her ears, so they don’t get infected. I have also been giving her honey on top of her food (per your last article), which she LOVES (she has a sweet tooth) as well as fish oil to reduce inflammation through her body. It is making her coat really soft as well.

I am moving to a new apartment on April 1st . I am only looking at one or two bedrooms with a yard, so that Sophie can run around. For the past 4 weeks, I have been taking her to the park on the weekends so that she can run free - which she loves. She also *loves* the snow and dances through it after every storm or snow fall.

Again - many, many thanks for all of your help and support during the first few weeks. You really made it possible for Sophie and I to establish a strong relationship and be together for the long haul. Thank you!

Samson - 2 Week Update

By: site admin @ 4:15 pm

WOW, can you believe it? I’ve been here for two weeks already! Seems like I’ve been here forever. I just love it here. My new sisters and brother are just great. We like to play ball and run in the yard. I’ve been a really good boy. I don’t snap at treats anymore and I know all my commands. I’ve learned that if you’re really good (and being cute does help) you get all kinds of love and hugs and sometimes extra special treats! (The hugs are my favorite!). Snuggling on the couch watching TV is one of my other favorites.

They even had a birthday party for me. I turned a young age of 6 this past week and got my own doggie cake and we all got to wear our party hats. See my smile? It was sooo much fun.

They say we’re going to go to someplace called the “country house” soon. I’m told there lots and lots of snow there and I can run and play in the giant snow banks and woods and sniff out all the wildlife that live there. I can’t wait. Maybe I’ll even get to ride on a snowmobile! I’ll send pictures when we get home.

Thank you NEARR for helping me find my forever home.

Love,

Samson

PS - The family is extremely happy with our Sammy Boy too. He’s adjusted very well and is now one of the gang! It seems like he’s been here longer than 2 weeks. As you can see, he’s just as spoiled as the other members of our family. We are so happy he’s a part our family. Thank you, NEARR!!
