Vegas - 2 Year Update

By: site admin @ 10:47 am

Since we are approaching our 2 year wedding anniversary, I realized we are also approaching our 2 yr anniversary of having adopted Vegas. We picked him up the day we got back from our honeymoon! I can’t believe it has been two years already…time has flown!

He is doing really well. He has really flourished and many people lately are commenting on how healthy he looks. He is a strong boy and I regularly thank my lucky stars that he is as mellow as he is because he would be hard to control if he was a high-energy dog!

I wanted to let his former family know he is doing well and is well loved. He has also recently embarked upon a career in modeling! I am attaching some pictures from his recent photo shoot…I had a photographer take some professional shots of him and T., some of which I am going to frame for a gallery wall. They came out great and Vegas was quite the ham, he loved every minute of it.

Thank you!

Cooper - 2 Month Update

By: site admin @ 10:43 am

We’re having a blast with Cooper! We’re doing well with obedience training. You can see the improvement in him every day. He’s definitely not a morning dog - does not like to walk then. By the afternoon, he’s anxious to get out and stretch his legs. His weight is getting down as well with all his exercise and diet management. The last visit to the vet had him down to a slim and trim 102.9 lbs. :-)

We’re grateful to be his forever family.

Maxwell - 2 Month Update

By: site admin @ 1:02 pm

oops! we’re having so much fun with maxwell we forgot our two month update. here it is … max continues to win his way into our hearts. he is a great loyal, loving and fun yellow lab. he love lots of activity and loves to sleep… anywhere.. anytime. he has been to the beach a few times not to impressed with waves but will gingerly step into water. it’s like.. ok that was nice now let me take a nap in the shade under the car. he loves to meet new friends … has had only one no-so- good encounter with a husky.other than that he’s kind and gentle to all his sniffing buddies.

we will be going on vacation down the cape unfortunately max will have to b e boarded. the kennel is in the same town so we will be able to take him out for day trips with us as well as visits to beach.

we still feel very grateful that we are max’s adoptive parents… we love him and we’re sure he loves us.

Lia (f/k/a Tasha) - 6 Month Update

By: site admin @ 12:58 pm

Lia has been a part of our family for six months now. Lia has been best buds with Seamus since she arrived, a wonderful cuddler for me, and she makes R. laugh. Lia has managed to drop 21 pounds! She looks and feels great. She has gone from tentatively wading in the water to a full out
swimmer who can’t wait to get into water.

Lia is not your classic retriever in that she is not overly found of tennis balls or retrieving. She loves soft toys and will happily make them squeak for hours, well, sometimes it seems like hours. If you throw a toy for her, she will chase it, but once it stops moving, she loses interest. When we took her to the beach she finally found something worth carrying around - a clamshell! The next thing she decided to retrieve was a dead horseshoe crab. Thank goodness she didn’t try to eat it or roll on it. I think she is going to like our summer trip to Down East Maine a lot.

When I use the exercise equipment in the basement Lia comes down and waits for me to finish. She was curled up patiently by the recumbent
bike when Seamus came down to see what the girls were doing. He walked over to Lia, sniffed her a bit, then gently started licking her face. He
cleaned it as thoroughly as any mother dog would her pup. She seemed to enjoy it, holding still, then she leaned forward and began licking his
neck as he licked her face. It was so sweet, and so unexpected from our goofy boy. These two seem to be perfect for each other.

Thanks for helping us find Lia. She is just what we needed.

Cooper - 1 Month Update

By: site admin @ 12:54 pm

Cooper’s a great dog! You can tell that he’s getting used to his forever home. We’ve finished the “honeymoon” period and he’s settling in and starting to show his true personality. He’s more couch potato than anything else and wants nothing more than a good belly rub.

We just started obedience training and we’re really looking forward to going again next week. He was quite vocal and tried to greet everyone exuberantly. We still have to work on that as he will continue to bark until he can get up close and personal with other dogs. He’s started refusing to walk when we go out, so I’m hoping we’ll be covering that in class soon.

He loves to wade in his pool and is enjoying the summer now that all those weeks of thunderstorms and rain have finally slowed up.

Ringo Update

By: site admin @ 12:50 pm

As I type this Ringo is laying on the floor keeping my feet warm, quite remarkable progress compared to when we first brought him home. Back then I had to type one handed, keeping the other on him.

Ringo continues to be an awesomely goofy yet princely dog. He frequently makes me laugh, helps wash away the days worries and always bring me great joy.

He’s very smart and obedient (he still knows the dead dog command - it’s our party trick) and I swear he understands me when I speak to him because he tilts his head to the side, his ears go up and he gives me this look… then he goes and does what I ask.

Ringo is very much adored by my 9 nieces and nephews always asking for him to visit them, can they take him for a walk, give him treats etc.etc. He has his own Christmas stocking made for him by is aunt and a special chair in his grandparents home.

Ringo still doesn’t like water though he will splash around in it on a really hot day. Squirrels are still his arch enemy - he can sit on the back steps starring up in the trees for hours. He loves to play fetch, catch frisbees and play tug of war.

We adopted a second dog which in the beginning he wasn’t to happy about but now the two are as thick as thieves. And on the weekends we attend group walks at our local reservation area were he gets to hang out with 6 other dogs.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank my lucky stars that Ringo came into my life. I am always getting compliments on what a great dog he his and I tell everyone that as much I’d like to take the credit, I cannot. It belongs to his first owner, a wonderful girl who loved him very much
