Prince - 4 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 4:53 pm

I wanted to give you the four month update for Prince, who we have formally knighted- his full name is now Sir Prince Charming Cinnamon. His majesty is doing well in all regards and has had a busy winter stomping around in the deep snow. Its been hard to get him as much exercise as he would like, especially when the snow cover was crunchy ice. Now that the glacier has receded, he seems more able to run around.

The attached pictures are from a few weeks ago when, during a mild afternoon we were able to play Frisbee on the sand flats. The extreme close-up actually dates back to last fall- but its too cute not to share. Most people cant believe he is past his 10th birthday given his energy level. The fatty tumor on his left hip is something we are just watching for now. After getting the feedback from his owner about that having been there for a long time, my vet decided we should watch it for six months instead of cutting him for a full biopsy.

I thoroughly enjoy Prince everyday and am glad he made his way here. Thanks again!!

Luke - 1 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 4:40 pm

It’s hard to believe that it has been a month since I brought Luke home! It seems like only a few days-then, it sometimes seems like he’s been here always. Luke just fits into our lives so well.

I don’t know if anyone was concerned about Ginny’s acceptance of Luke but she usually is the one to feed him and give him fresh water. He’s a wonderful dog and is loved. We are staying as active as weather permits.

I don’t know what else to tell you, everything is going well. When the weather breaks I want to enroll him in some training classes. I think he could do better on a lead and I also think he would love some agility classes.

Tracker - 2 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 4:38 pm

Hi, Tracker is doing very well. Had his first visit to the Vet, got a shot for the scratching/itching and it has done wonders. Vet was very happy with his coat etc and the vast improvement since he last saw him. He will take another look soon.

Paddy - 1 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 10:25 am

Hello All! Paddy here…
I have just completed my fourth week with my forever family. It’s like I have been here all of my life. I come when I am called, I behave like a gentleman and I love my “peeps” more than anyone could.

I start doggy-be-good school on Tuesday. Just another way to show Mom and Dad how smart I really am… I know I will get all A’s! I also have developed a new “habit”. Mom bought me a warm and fuzzy blanket last week and I get tucked in every night now when it is bed time. I stay all warm and snugly until it’s time to get up the next morning. I have received some feedback on my most recent “post” from Mom’s friends. They check Happy Tails all the time now. They think that I should write for a living….just a thought. :-)

It snowed here again today…WOW I love the stuff! I roll in it, I chase my basketballs in it, I just lay in it wagging my tail. I guess that makes me a “snow bunny”. Someone has to keep the family entertained. I think I fill that need! I have discovered squirrel tracks. Those pesky little buggers have no chance when the snow melts! I now follow their little paw prints all over the back yard where they dead- end at a tree. As I said before, they are lucky I can’t climb trees! (Maybe they will teach me that in Doggy School?)

My big sister will be home next week from college, and I look forward to a week of lots of kisses, hugs and perhaps a little shared sleep time…… She DOES love to snuggle and to date, that is the only bed I have been invited to sleep on. Go figure?

I hope all my fellow adoptees are as happy as I am. NEARR is the best! Thank you NEARR for my forever home and family!

Love for now,
Paddy (aka Padfoot, aka Sirius Black)
