Prince - 7 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 9:02 pm

Prince is doing great! He is such a wonderful, good natured dog. Everyone who meets him, loves him. Over the winter we started regular morning walks with a group of other dogs in the area. Every day- 7 days a week- we meet up with 6 or 7 other dogs at 7AM in a nearby park. The dogs really look forward to it. Sleeping later or cutting out the morning meeting is prohibited. Prince will protest any attempt to just walk around the yard by trotting over to my truck, sitting politely and barking loudly. He also enjoys the beach or just hanging out here in the living room waiting for his next cookie. Attached is a recent picture of him on the beach.

Bubba - 7 Month Update

By: volunteer @ 8:25 pm

We write to you, a little late (sorry about that), as the people of a dog that is learning to be a dog. We would not describe Bubba as a couch potato anymore. Now don’t get us wrong, he loves to lay on the couch but he also loves to go on walks, play soccer, and run in open fields. Oh, and on one of our walks at Mt. Hope Farm, Bubba found the water, put his face in and romped as we threw pebbles into the water for him to fetch. To see the excitement on his face, was pretty cool. We feel like he is finding his doggie self.

He is great with kids who want to pet him at the playground. He has his routine, which involves eating at 6am even on weekends, ugh!!! We are still working on his barking at every little noise outside. The open windows of summer are going to be interesting. He is better with the counter surfing but still needs some time to master the skill of not getting on the counters. Bubs has made himself at home and we are so happy to have him in our lives.

He is our tail wagging boy. Will be in touch again soon.

Woodford - 9 Year Update

By: volunteer @ 8:22 pm

Here is Woodford’s 9 year update… Here is a photo of him on the beach at sunset in Florida back in February. He loved the road trip down, as he has always loved to travel and the smells of the road. He is our very elderly guy now at 15 and 1/2 years old, but his appetite is as ferocious as ever and he loves meal times and all the treats throughout the day. We do get to spoil him now rather than watching his waist line as we used to have to do. We try to shower him with lots of attention, love and more treats, while evaluating his quality of life too. I could never have guessed that we would be writing a nine year update back when Angie and Woodford came to live with us in 2003. He is a blessing and we love him so much. Thanks, NEARR!

Maxwell Kasey - 3 year update

By: volunteer @ 8:01 pm

Hi Everyone, it’s Maxwell Kasey (with a K) checking in on my 3rd anniversary in my adoption home. Boy does time fly . It seems just like yesterday that I arrived here. I have really settled in and actually have the run of the house. My schedule includes an early morning walk with dad .. sometimes at the beach (no I haven’t gotten to like the ocean, and in my old age of 13 I don’t think I will) followed by breakfast at 7. And then I just hang around … sleeping which is my second favorite thing to do. Eating, of course tops the list. Dad and Mom still refer to me as their velcro dog… where they are that’s where I should be. I still go to Dad’s studio and just lounge around until dinner at 4. What a life!

I sometimes stay at the kennel when Mom and Dad go away. Boy is that fun. An all LAB playgroup, walks in the woods and lots of new attention. Can you believe it I’m the star or at least I think I am.

I have slowed down a bit and don’t play fetch as much or chase the rabbits. I have scared the heck out of the wild turkeys so they don’t they visit any more. It’s my yard any ways.
